Practice Logs

Good afternoon,

We had a pretty good turnout for the cookie dough fundraiser today. If your child did not turn in their money and form today then they must turn it in tomorrow.

PLEASE make sure to sign the practice log that your child has been filling out this week. Every single Friday we will check that for a grade. They are not required to practice for much, but for just an hour total per week. They may break it up however they want as long as they are taking an hours worth of time throughout the week to reinforce what we learn in class.

Thank you for supporting our fantastic band students!

Cookie dough turn in

Good evening,

Please read the letter sent home today about our cookie dough fundraiser. Our orders can get sent out sooner if we have little to no mistakes. Please take the time to double check the amount on the form and approve that it matches the money turned in.

Thank you for all of your hard work!

FALL COOKIE DOUGH FUNDRAISER

On Monday we began our annual Cookie Dough Fundraiser by distributing materials out to the students. This sale will take place over 2 weeks and will be a great way for our students to help raise money for the band and also for their own personal band goals.

For 5th/6th graders they can earn money towards their band performance polo shirts ($21). For every box of cookie sold the student will get $3 toward their shirt. Each student will need a band performance polo shirt for our performances this year.

Students will sell boxes of cookie dough and collect the money. On September the 15th, the money will be due in class along with the order form taker and we will count the orders to send off to the company. The cookie dough is set to come in during the first two weeks of October. As soon as I know the date of the order delivery, you all will know. The students will simply grab their orders of cookie from school and take them home with them on the bus or in the car.

The money raised in all of our fundraisers goes directly to support our band account which is used for repairs of school owned instruments, supplies and music purchases, and to pay guest teachers and clinicians to work with your awesome children.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns:

Summer Camps/Private Lessons

Don’t forget to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities below!

Summer Camps:

There are several summer camps that I would like to recommend for students who would like to grow on their instruments this summer. Some of them are more expensive than others, depending on what they offer. I have listed some info below for you all:

Sounds of Summer:         http://www.soundsofsummerbandcamp.com

  • A day camp that takes place at Midway Church in Villa Rica
  • Register and Pay Online
  • I will work this camp for the second year in a row. Highly reccommended.

Bravo! Music Camp:         http://www.bravomusiccamp.com

  • Over night camp held at Berry College
  • All meals and T-Shirt included.

Encore! Band Camp:       http://www.encorebandcamp.com

  • Over night camp held at Georgia College and State University
  • Register and Pay Online

Summer Camps are an awesome opportunity for your kids to grow as musicians, as well as meet new friends.  All of these camps have a great staff of people running them, and a lot of fun activities each day.  Please consider enrolling your child.

SUMMER LESSONS:

Taking lessons during the summer is equivalent to a baseball player having a pitching coach. They get one on one time to enhance their abilities. If your student feels behind, this is the individual attention that they need! If they are ahead and want a challenge then private lessons are a way to learn new concepts with a professional guiding your child. Below are my recommendations for people who I feel are qualified to each our students. You may contact them to work out pricing and location. Students who take private lessons end up well ahead of other students in band and have a large increase in self confidence when playing their instruments.

Flute:

Elisa Lyle: elisaflute@bellsouth.net

Paige Jenkins: pj2355@yahoo.com

Please ask me any questions that you have in regards to trying to find a good match for private lessons for your student. I look forward to the growth and fun that you child will have from participating in either of the above this summer.

Be safe and have a great summer!

Volunteer Opportunities

If you can come help setup Monday May 16th at 3:15pm at the MAC that would be awesome, please send me an email.  We usually only get two or three people, but many hands make light work.  Also if their is anyone willing to supervise during the concert please email me.

I cannot wait until Monday! Please check at home to make sure that the band uniform is ready to go. Kids tend to grow out of those dress shoes and pants quickly. This is an exciting time of the year and I cannot wait to perform with your students.

Band Polos Tomorrow

Good evening,

I hope that you all had a restful weekend. Parents and guardians, please make sure to read the paper that the students brought home for you all. It has important information on it.

Tomorrow is our Band Day. The students will need to bring their band polo so that they can wear it for the recruitment concert after lunch. No black pants, shoes or socks required, just the band polo. Please go ahead and lay the polo over their book bag, by your keys or by the front door! That way we can make sure that it isn’t forgotten tomorrow morning. I look forward to a day filled with fun tomorrow.
