10/30-11/3

Good afternoon,

It has been a busy yet incredible past couple weeks here in the CMS Band!

We had two field trips, a middle school football game, a high school football game for 8th Grade Night, a chocolate bar pizza reward party, and even some of you assisting with our high school marching band competition! On top of that we have several students who have auditioned and made an advanced group called West Georgia Winds. Those students have already rehearsed twice and have been working hard to add on even MORE music on their plate.

We have so many motivated and hard working students in our band program. I also want to say that the parents and guardian help the past two weeks has been incredible. You all have been flexible and have done everything with a smile on your face! Thank you for putting our students first and donating your time and resources to our program.

Week at a Glance

Tuesday: DHB After school Rehearsal until 4:15

Wednesday: Jazz Band until 4:15

Thursday: Percussion Ensemble Rehearsal until 4:15/Low reeds extra help until 4:00

Jazz Band/Percussion Ensemble

Once the Fall settles down, we begin our percussion and jazz band ensembles. A few special notes:

  • 6th, 7th, 8th grade band members are allowed in these ensembles
  • NO fees or costs are required for this ensemble
  • All students regardless of instrument may participate in these ensembles
  • No form is needed to participate, students simply stay after school to participate each week

Carowinds:

If you have not created your Carowinds account and are not up to date, please update that this time. Our trip payments are spread out over months to make things more manageable.

https://superholiday.grcoll.co/go/cmsb30117-24

Our chocolate bar fundraiser will be applied to the November 12th payment, not the initial downpayment. Every box of chocolate bars that was sold will credit $30 towards your trip! There are still more boxes to sell if anyone would like to sell more. We will also credit money towards our trip using the raffle fundraiser in January. Fundraising is a great way to lower the cost of the Carowinds trip!

Attached is the document with the trip itinerary, cost, and break down.

Legacy Of Champions Marching Band Competition

Each year our high school program hosts a band competition on campus. It is one of the more organized and professionally run marching competitions in our state! We rely heavily each year on parent and CMS student volunteers. If you or your student would like to volunteer this Saturday, the 28th we could use your help! We have shifts from all day that you are able to sign up for. This includes things like serving food in the concession stands, serving waters to our guest bands, helping move equipment, and more. We also need a LOT of parent help with tasks that students cannot do. If your student would like service hours they may use this competition for that.

We also need a LOT of parent help with tasks that students cannot do. Adults can help to sell products, handle food items, and drive equipment around.

If you or your student are interested in volunteering this Sunday, please sign up here: https://chstrojanband.com/volunteer/

Have a wonderful Sunday night!
