8/31-9/4: Materials Due

Happy Sunday! A quick reminder below:

  • All students should have a black binder with sheet protectors to hold their music
  • All 6th graders should own their own Green Book this week (or have it ordered)
  • All woodwinds who use reeds should own their own this week
  • All mouthpieces for new brass should be ordered
  • All new instruments should be ordered

I am here to help, please do not hesitate to reach out if you are still missing something and need help getting it. Having working instruments and supplies is what will make our students successful in band!

West Georgia Winds

WGW is an honor band that allows for students in the surrounding counties to rehearse together and learn from guest conductors. The group is in their 6th season and rehearses on Sundays with Ms. Abigail Russom of Cass Middle School. Our CMS students are extremely lucky because our own band room is used as the rehearsal site!

The group rehearses from 2:30PM to 4:30PM and has a big involvement from our CMS Band members. Any 6th through 8th grader is able to audition and I would love to see a huge turn out again!

The dates are as follows:

– Sept 13 audition date

– Fall rehearsals: 11/1, 11/8, 11/15, 11/29, 12/6

– Spring rehearsals: 1/31, 2/7, 2/21, 2/28, 3/7

Materials for class

Every student in the CMS Band program must have a black three ring binder with five sheet protectors. All returning students should still have theirs from last year.

6th Grade and Beginners Only: Needed by September!

All 6th graders must own this textbook. We will use it for the next few years. It may also be purchased on other websites like Amazon. Please ensure that you select the right instrument. If your child plays “Baritone” they need to purchase the book that says “Euphonium” on it.

Need an instrument?

Rent here! https://giftofmusicinstruments.com/rent/

All New Percussionists:

Please return your instrument to the Gift of Music by bringing it to Ms. Menendez at CMS and rent/purchase your percussion kit for your student here: https://giftofmusicinstruments.com/carrolltonms/

The percussion kit will last them through high school and should look like this: You can pay all at one time or pay in installments with Gift of Music.

I am happy to answer any questions that you may have.

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez
