It is official football time in the CMS band world! We are excited have been invited to play and cheer on our CMS Trojan Football team this Saturday in Grisham Stadium!
Trojan Band Game 9/14
This is an optional group and is open to all CMS band students. We will play cheers in the stand as a spirit band for the 8th grade football team in Grisham Stadium at the high school.
Uniform will be a t shirt that is provided with the fee. Students are encouraged to wear shorts, tennis shoes, hats, and sunglasses due to the heat.

Students will be allowed to purchase concessions at the game, so they may want to bring some money.
Parent volunteers are needed for each game. Contact maria.menendez@carrolltoncityschools.net to volunteer.
Students will report to the Carrollton High School Band room at 6 PM. Pick up time will be 8:30 PM at the CHS Band room. Students will need to bring their instruments to and from the game.

West Georgia Winds, now under the umbrella of West Georgia Arts Collective, is a group meant for advanced musicians wishing to meet students from across the state and play challenging music. They meet on Sundays at our CMS band room and rehearses with a highly qualified conductor. This is a group that many of our students would benefit from. If you feel like your student is highly motivated and would like to audition for this prestigious ensemble, please visit http://www.westgaarts.com.

District Honor Band
Another prestigious ensemble is called District Honor Band. This group has a much more difficult audition but is one that our students at Carrollton are very equipped take. The students will audition in December and will audition against the most talented students in our district. If selected, the students will travel with Ms. Menendez to Ringgold, Georgia to rehearse with a guest conductor and other talented students. It is an incredible opportunity!
The band fees for the 2024-2025 school year are $10 and are due this Friday. You may pay the band fee in cash, check (written out to CMS Band), or on Revtrak.
Our handbook agreement form is also due this Friday.

The start to this school year has been tremendous in our band program. These groups are hard working and extremely polite. I can tell that this will be our best year yet!

It was another great week at CMS. Good luck to all of our students as they begin their Milestones assessments this week. They are going to knock it out of the park!

Jazz Band Performance 4/22
Our jazz band will rehearse and perform tomorrow at the CMS Awards night.
Please ensure to bring semi formal clothes to wear at the awards night for our performance

4:25-5:25 PM Board bus and head to dinner at Hacienda Grande Mexican Restaraunt (Students need to bring their own money)
5:25 PM Load bus and return to CMS Band room5:30 PM Walk to Mabry Arts Center
6:15-6:30 PM Play as people walk into the Awards Night
6:30 PM Awards Night starts (jazz students may leave if they are not receiving an award)

Solo and Ensemble 4/27 @ Paulding County High School
Students who are competing in Solo and Ensemble on Saturday will need to keep a few things in mind.
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from Solo and Ensemble
You may leave once your solo and chamber group is done performing
Report to Paulding County High school at 12:15 pm
Parking is in front of the school.
Registration for your students will be located inside the main entrance of the building.
Warm up will be in the cafeteria.
Scores will be given to Ms. Menendez and will be shared on Monday.
High School Band Meeting: April 25th @ 7PM @ CHS Band Room
All of our current and future high school band members will need to attend this meeting for information regarding dates for high school band next year. We will go over dates, times, uniforms, fees, communication, and more. We ask that at least one adult is there to represent their student so that they can collect all of the information.

Carowinds
Our 8th grade band members had a wonderful time in Charlotte, North Carolina. We enjoyed Go Karts, time at the mall, Carowinds amusement park, and great food. The students spent the night at a hotel and enjoyed a buffet breakfast the next morning. On top of that, our school system allowed us to use their charter bus and we rode in style!
Thank you to the students for your hard work the past four years in band and thank you to the chaperones for keeping our students safe.

Jazz Band Performance
Jazz band will rehearse this Tuesday and Wednesday until 4:15 in preparation for our performance at the CMS Honors Awards Night on 4/22. Our students will dress business casual and will report to the Mabry Arts Center at 5:30 PM.
