We are excited to travel in October with our CMS band students! Both trips are optional and cost only $5. I hope that you will consider allowing your student to visit these places and learn about music in an exciting way!

If your students are interested in traveling to Kennesaw, Georgia to tour the university, hear a wind symphony rehearsal, and watch the KSU Marching Owls practice, please fill out the following field trip form. The field trip is $5 per student.

Schedule:

1:15-1:30 PM Load Buses/Depart CMS

1:30-3:00 PM Travel to KSU/Unload

3:00-4:00 PM Wind Symphony Rehearsal

4:00-5:00 PM Tour of Kennesaw Campus/Subway boxed lunch

5:00-6:00 PM Watch Marching Owls Practice

6:15 PM Depart for CMS

 7:30 PM Arrive at CMS

Cost for all students is $5. This will cover a boxed meal from Subway

All students and chaperones must complete a form in order to attend the trip

Please submit this permission form as soon as possible along with $5. Payments may be cash, check (written out to CMS Band), or on Revtrak under the “CMS BAND PAYMENT ANY AMOUNT” with your student’s first and last name along with “KSU Field Trip” on it.

On October 25th, students will remain after school for recreation time with Ms. Menendez, eat dinner, and travel to the Carroll County Performing Arts Center to watch the University of West Georgia’s Wind Ensemble perform a concert!

Dinner will be American Pie Pizza along with chips, drinks, and dessert. The cost to attend the field trip is $5.

All students and chaperones must complete a form in order to attend the trip

Schedule:
3:30-5:00 Recreation time at CMS
5:00-5:20 Change into formal attire
5:20-6:20 Dinner and dessert at CMS cafeteria
6:45 Depart for Carroll County Performing Arts Center
6:55 Arrive, use restrooms, tour facility and meet and greet with UWG students
7:30 Concert Begins
8:30 Concert concludes
8:45 Arrive back at CMS

Wednesday until 4:00 PM: District Honor Band Rehearsal

District Honor Band: Last week to sign up!

It is around this time every year that we begin talking about District Honor Band and All-State Honor Band auditions. We have such a talented group this year and I am excited to begin working on this music.
Each school in Georgia is zoned to a specific district. This is an audition-based group that collects the top band students in our district and combines them into an “all-region” type of band. Students learn under the baton of a guest conductor in Ringgold, Georgia, and play difficult and enjoyable music with 80 or so new friends! Auditions are on Saturday, December 2nd at Cass Middle School.

District Honor Band participation and All-State Band Participation are looked at very highly by colleges and employers because of the extra time and the personal responsibility it takes to successfully audition and make one of these prestigious bands. Should you make it,  DHB is February 8th-10th in Ringgold, Georgia.

Students wishing to audition for the District Honor Band must pay a fee of $5 to participate. Students who wish to audition for All-State will speak to Ms. Menendez individually.
