The students have been working extremely hard and I cannot wait for you to hear them!
We are blessed to have four ensembles at CMS. Please pay special attention to which group your student is in to know your report times and concert times.
6th grade/Symphonic Band:
Concert Band/Wind Ensemble:
Attire for all bands is all black. No flip flops, sandals, crocks, or casual shoes please. Tennis shoes are okay, dress shoes are suggested.
Our 8th grade football team made it to the next round of the playoffs! We are excited to support them this Saturday at the football game.
The time is still to be determined. When I receive the time from our Athletic Director, I will send out the schedule to you all.
Go Trojans! We cannot wait to be in Grisham Stadium this Saturday!
Our 7th and 8th graders have their next field trip to KSU this Thursday, November 7th. If you have not already filled out the permission form, please do it ASAP.
KSU 7th/8th Grade Field Trip Form
Students who have sold one box of chocolate have earned half off and only owe $7.50 for their trip. Students who sold 2 boxes of chocolate have fundraised enough to have a free field trip! If your student did not sell a box of chocolates, they will owe $15. You may pay with cash, check (written out to CMS Band), or online under “payments” on our website. I typically encourage 8th graders to allow their chocolate money to go to Carowinds rather than this trip since that trip is pricier. Please let me know what your preference is.
Downpayment is beyond due. Please let me know if you have any questions while creating your account.
Some of our band students have the opportunity to visit UWG’s campus in November! I have attached the jotform below to sign up. Our 7th and 8th graders have been invited by the high school band to participate in the Homecoming parade on Friday!
8th Grade Night
8th Grade night was a HUGE success. There was so much laughter, joy, cheering, playing and camaraderie. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers and to Dr. Carr, Mr. Nelson, and the CHS Band Booster organization for spoiling us! The students were picked up in our school system’s charter busses, were fed dinner, and even given a free t shirt!
I have added the photos that I took from that night into a folder here and would love to see any photos that you all have from that night.
The CHS Band program is one of the top band programs in the state for both marching band and our ensembles inside. As you prepare your 8th grader for high school, we hope that you will come to us with any questions about high school band. We were over 200 strong on Friday thanks to our 8th graders!

Good evening,

We are excited to begin our World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser tomorrow, 9/15/2024. Each chocolate bar will be sold for $1. Each box has 60 candy bars containing the following flavors: Milk Chocolate with Almonds, Dark Chocolate Bars, W.F. Crisp Bars, Wafer, Milk Chocolate Bars, and Caramel Bars.
Once a parent/guardian has filled out this form, your student will receive their first box of chocolate. Students will bring home one box of chocolate bars at a time. The form must be completed each time in order for a student to receive their next box of chocolate. After their first box, each student will need to submit $60 before receiving another box to sell.
For every box sold, 8th graders will receive $30 towards their Carowinds Trip.
Cash is accepted as well as checks written out to CMS BAND. No online purchases may be made for this fundraiser.
The fundraiser ends on Monday, September 30th. Please turn in the $60 at that time for your current box. No opened boxes will be accepted and students must pay the difference for the chocolate bars that were not sold. As an example: If a student sells 55 chocolate bars, then the student will pay the remaining $5 out of pocket upon submitting their money.
PRIZES:
Most Boxes sold – $100 gift Card
2nd Place – $50 Gift Card
3rd Place – $25 Gift Card
*For every box that is sold, students will gain 1 entry into a fast food gift card raffle. Two names per class will be drawn for the fast food gift card prizes.
I am excited to raise funds for our band program to purchases equipment, music, and instruments. Thank you for your participation!
