I am excited to present our online store for CMS Band merchandise that will be open year round. I will post the link each Sunday as a reminder and will let you know if any new items are added. This does not serve as a fundraiser for our band program but it does allow for us to purchase spirit wear to represent our program!
It was another great week at CMS. Good luck to all of our students as they begin their Milestones assessments this week. They are going to knock it out of the park!

With two weeks of Milestones, we will have to be efficient in our rehearsals during class to finish prepping for our Spring Concert. Our Spring concert will be as follows:
6th grade/Symphonic Band:
Report to MAC @ 5:15
6th grade performs @ 6:00PM
Symphonic Band performs @ 6:25
7:00 PM Dismissal for both groups
Concert Band/Wind Ensemble:
Report to MAC @ 7:00
Concert Band performs @ 7:30
Wind Ensemble performs @ 7:50
8:30 PM Dismissal for both groups
Attire for all bands is all black.

Band BBQ This Thursday!
Our high school program has a huge fundraiser this Thursday that you will not want to miss. Come by to the stadium to purchase dinner for your family and to enjoy an evening of entertainment!

Jazz Band Performance 4/22
Our jazz band will rehearse and perform tomorrow at the CMS Awards night.
Please ensure to bring semi formal clothes to wear at the awards night for our performance
Our schedule is below.
3:30-4:15 PM Rehearsal in CMS Band Room
4:25-5:25 PM Board bus and head to dinner at Hacienda Grande Mexican Restaraunt (Students need to bring their own money)
5:25 PM Load bus and return to CMS Band room5:30 PM Walk to Mabry Arts Center
6:15-6:30 PM Play as people walk into the Awards Night
6:30 PM Awards Night starts (jazz students may leave if they are not receiving an award)
7:30 PM Awards Night ends
Solo and Ensemble 4/27 @ Paulding County High School
Students who are competing in Solo and Ensemble on Saturday will need to keep a few things in mind.
Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from Solo and Ensemble
You may leave once your solo and chamber group is done performing
Report to Paulding County High school at 12:15 pm
Parking is in front of the school.
Registration for your students will be located inside the main entrance of the building.
Warm up will be in the cafeteria.
Scores will be given to Ms. Menendez and will be shared on Monday.
High School Band Meeting: April 25th @ 7PM @ CHS Band Room
All of our current and future high school band members will need to attend this meeting for information regarding dates for high school band next year. We will go over dates, times, uniforms, fees, communication, and more. We ask that at least one adult is there to represent their student so that they can collect all of the information.

Carowinds
Our 8th grade band members had a wonderful time in Charlotte, North Carolina. We enjoyed Go Karts, time at the mall, Carowinds amusement park, and great food. The students spent the night at a hotel and enjoyed a buffet breakfast the next morning. On top of that, our school system allowed us to use their charter bus and we rode in style!
Thank you to the students for your hard work the past four years in band and thank you to the chaperones for keeping our students safe.

Jazz Band Performance
Jazz band will rehearse this Tuesday and Wednesday until 4:15 in preparation for our performance at the CMS Honors Awards Night on 4/22. Our students will dress business casual and will report to the Mabry Arts Center at 5:30 PM.

If you are an 8th grader who is auditioning for high school band, please visit this link to read about your audition on Thursday. Sign ups for audition times will be given tomorrow. All CMS 8th graders will get priority of the earlier time slots and will walk over to CHS with Ms. Menendez
Carowinds Info
The week is finally here for our 8th graders to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina! This is such an incredible field trip!
The itinerary and packing list are below and will be updated throughout the week.
We will have a QUICK meeting after school on Tuesday from 3:30 – 4:00 PM for all student travelers. Chaperones will be contacted this week by Ms. Menendez individually with details but are welcome to attend on Tuesday if available.

Monday: We are excited to welcome Mr. Patrick Erwin, from the global non profit Growing Leaders to our band room to speak with us during class. No instruments needed.

Large Group Performance Evaluation
Congratulations to the Carrollton Middle School Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble! All three groups performed at the annual state music assessment, entitled “Large Group Performance Evaluation”, on Thursday. They played beautifully for adjudicators and represented our community well. Congratulations on a great performance!
7th Grade Urban Air Field Trip: This Thursday, March 28th
Our 7th graders will enjoy a trip to Urban Air in Newnan, Georgia on March 28th. The information is below. All students must fill out the following JotForm and have their payments in by March 22nd.
Here is our current roster. If you are missing the permission form I have linked it below for you all to complete.
Our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will have a chair test in class on Wednesday. The students will have one minute to play as many scales as they can followed by a performance of the etude that was handed out to them in class. I look forward to hearing the students on Wednesday and getting them set up for our Spring concert!

Large Group Performance Evaluation
Our 7th and 8th grade groups have been working very hard for their concerts this week. We all wish them luck as they perform at the Carroll County Performing Arts Center this Thursday! Individual itineraries are below. Please remember to wear your all black uniform for the concert.
The following schedules are tentative. Our transportation department is working diligently to get buses for our groups. If either of the three groups has a change in their schedule, I will inform the students and families of that group.
Concert Band:
Depart 8:20 AM (students will report to the band room upon arriving to school on Thursday to load buses).
8:30 AM Depart from CMS
8:40 AM Arrive and unload at CCPAC
9:30 AM Warm Up
10:00 AM Performance Free and open to the public!
11:15 AM Depart for CMS
11:30 AM arrive at CMS. Report to 4th block to meet sub
Symphonic Band:
10:15 AM Report to band room, eat lunch (SUBWAY provided), load busses

Our 7th and 8th graders did a tremendous job on Tuesday at our Pre LGPE Concert! We have listened to the judges tapes and have already started the process of improving as we work towards LGPE.
I will post a schedule for Concert, Symphonic, and Wind Ensemble once the bus schedule has been approved. I hope to release that later this week. Please continue keeping the dates on your calendar so that we can fill the Carroll County Performing Arts Center up and cheer on our 7th through 12th grade band students!

6th Grade LakePoint Station Field Trip
Thursday’s performance and visit to LakePoint Station was a blast! The students and parent chaperones were rockstars! That was a memorable field trip and CMS Band was represented well! Thank you to everyone who was involved in making it happen. Performing and traveling is one of the most exciting parts about band.
Summer Opportunities
If your student is interested in continuing their musical journey this summer, there are wonderful music camps that are available hosted by some of the universities here in Georgia.
