Our 8th graders and chaperones had a blast on our annual Carowinds Trip this weekend! Thank you to the chaperones who helped keep our students safe and ensured that we had fun. Students enjoyed go karts, put-put, slides, shopping, lots of food and plenty of roller coasters!

This Friday, our school will have our annual dance for our 7th and 8th graders at the Indoor Facility. If you would like to help run concessions with other band parents and teachers, we would appreciate your help! Please email me at maria.menendez@carrolltoncityschools.net

Please ensure that a parent/guardian is in attendance at this meeting on Tuesday, not just the student.

We had a busy week at CMS!
Our 7th graders had their annual end-of-year trip to Urban Air in Newnan, Georgia. Students enjoyed the trampolines as well as obstacle courses, virtual reality games, and the zip line. Thank you to all of the chaperones who helped out!

Our 6th grade band members traveled to Woodland High School to perform for and with the Woodland high school band and then traveled down the street to LakePoint Station. Students performed a concert, rehearsed with the high school ensemble, then sat in on their rehearsal as they practiced some of their music. Once we arrived at Lakepoint Station, we enjoyed laser tag, Pizza, Bowling, Arcade time, and clip and climb! Our chaperones once again knocked it out of the park!

Great job to both 7th and 8th grade this week on your field trips. We hope that had fun!
Congratulations to our very own, Grey Esslinger in being awarded the Scholarship Cup at Monday’s Honors Night. This award is awarded to the 8th grader who maintained the highest cumulative average through middle school. We are so proud of you, Gray for being a leader in our school! Way to make the band program proud!

We have some exciting things happening over the next few weeks!

Now is a GREAT time to upgrade the instrument that your student is renting to something more advanced! The Gift of Music will have an instrument night open to all Carroll County band students at the CHS Band room from 4-6PM on April 17th.
Students can upgrade instruments or even purchase new mouthpieces and equipment for their current instruments. Instruments will be available for students to try out and the finance team will be there to answer any questions that arise.

Happy Sunday and a HUGE congratulations to our 7th and 8th graders who performed at Large Group Performance Evaluation last week. They played wonderfully on stage, sight read a brand new piece of music in front of a judge, and represented our school system at a high level.
The students have worked very hard on leading up to this performance and I am thankful for all of our staff for their help in ensuring that the students were safe and were able to focus on making music this past week. Dr. Carr, Mr. Nelson, Mr. Trumble, and Mr. Boyle were all in attendance during our three performances last week. Thank you!
In addition, our high school program had three ensembles perform as well and they did a tremendous job! Congratulations to our band program on a very successful Large Group Performance Evaluation.

Our Wind Ensemble is excited to perform twice this week! Once at our preview concert tomorrow. This concert is at 7 PM at the Mabry Arts Center and we would love a huge audience for them to get them confident for Wednesday!
They will perform at the Southeastern Regional Festival at Georgia State University this Wednesday at 9:45 am in the beautiful Rialto Center at Georgia State. Both concerts are free and open to the public and we would appreciate your support!

Our students had a wonderful time on Friday visiting the University of West Georgia. Great job to our WE and we are excited to hear their performance at Georgia State in a few weeks.
