Subway Order/Carowinds Info

Good morning,

I wanted to touch base with you all with important information about our KSU field trip as well as our Carowinds field trip that is for 8th grade only.

KSU Field Trip (6th-8th grade)

All participants, chaperones and students, must fill out the following form. This is the Subway order. Please fill this out even if you plan on bringing your own dinner to the trip.

https://forms.gle/ZV5PAZk5mvGVCmiFA

Meal will include:

  • Ham/Turkey/Veggie 6 inch sub
  • Lettuce and cheese on sub
  • Mayo, Mustard, Oil and vinegar packets
  • Chips
  • Water
  • Cookie

Carowinds Information (8th Grade Only)

It is vital that those who plan on traveling to Carowinds in April create an account ASAP. Our trip payments are spread out over months to make things more manageable.

https://superholiday.grcoll.co/go/cmsb30117-24

Our chocolate bar fundraiser will be applied to the November 12th payment, not the initial downpayment. Every box of chocolate bars that was sold will credit $30 towards your trip! There are still more boxes to sell if anyone would like to sell more. We will also credit money towards our trip using the raffle fundraiser in January. Fundraising is a great way to lower the cost of the Carowinds trip!

Attached is the document with the trip itinerary, cost, and break down.

We could use more chaperones for both trips!

Please let me know if you have any questions about anything!

Sincerely,

Ms. Maria Menendez

9/18-9/22

Schedule for the week:

Wednesday until 4:00 PM: District Honor Band Rehearsal

District Honor Band: Last week to sign up!

It is around this time every year that we begin talking about District Honor Band and All-State Honor Band auditions. We have such a talented group this year and I am excited to begin working on this music.
Each school in Georgia is zoned to a specific district. This is an audition-based group that collects the top band students in our district and combines them into an “all-region” type of band. Students learn under the baton of a guest conductor in Ringgold, Georgia, and play difficult and enjoyable music with 80 or so new friends! Auditions are on Saturday, December 2nd at Cass Middle School.

District Honor Band participation and All-State Band Participation are looked at very highly by colleges and employers because of the extra time and the personal responsibility it takes to successfully audition and make one of these prestigious bands. Should you make it,  DHB is February 8th-10th in Ringgold, Georgia.

Students wishing to audition for the District Honor Band must pay a fee of $5 to participate. Students who wish to audition for All-State will speak to Ms. Menendez individually.

Please have this filled out by Friday, September 22nd.

DHB Form: https://forms.gle/NshX1h82XrXDMqRg7

Optional DHB practice on Wednesdays after school until 4:00 PM.

Let’s continue selling chocolate bars!!

Sincerely,

Ms. Menendez

Game Cancellation Due to Weather

Good morning!

Due to heavy rain being predicted upon our arrival today, I have decided to not have our band members perform at the game. I will try to find a different Saturday for us to add on. We wish the football team good luck!

Thank you for your flexibility and thank you to all of those who were willing to volunteer and donate. We will be able to used the donated items for our next game if you are still willing to donate them. Those donations may be stored in the CMS band room if that is easier for you all.

Do not hesitate to email me with any questions.

Sincerely,

M. Menendez
